"Switching" our plans around...

The plan was to leave Port Susan at around 8:30 in the morning and head to see our son, Robert, in the Tri-Cities.  However, we all know how the universe laughs at "plans"!

We were ready to leave right on schedule...fifth wheel slides in, utilities disconnected, and antenna down.  Tom backed the truck, lining the hitch with the pin box, while Sheila stood at her normal post to activate the landing gear power switch.  She pushed the switch...and nothing happened.  Uh oh!

For those readers not familiar with this switch, it extends and retracts the landing gear that support the front of the fifth wheel when it's not attached to the truck.  Without the landing gear up, we weren't going anywhere!

So...to make what could be a long story short...after a trip to a local rv dealer (wrong part) and another trip to two rv supply stores (they could order it), Tom tried an independent hardware store.  And they had a switch we could use!

Landing gear up!  Tires rolling!  And only 6 hours behind schedule...

(Thanks Brenda and Bob for the tip regarding "They have everything!" Arlington Hardware.  That bit of info from our visit last weekend saved the day!)
